Precipitation Trends Analysis Using Gridded Dynamic Sampling Zones: Case Study Yangtze Delta Megalopolis

As a result of the fast growth remote sensing and data assimilation technology, many global land use cover (LULC) climate reanalysis sets have been used to advance our understanding environmental change. This paper investigates precipitation variations Yangtze Delta Megalopolis by using under conditions dynamic urban sprawl. Compared with current characteristic analyses, which are often based on limited number ground rainfall stations, approach followed in this study comprises grid-based statistical method large samples uniform distribution same representative grid area. novel sampling is applied overcome temporal spatial inconsistency stationary sampling. allows examine impact urbanization regional characteristics. The (YDM) region, one most developed regions China, was selected as case evaluate subsequent features. results reveal that annual total (TP) maximum daily (MDP) both non-urban areas YDM region generally increased during past 30 years. Hence, has become increasingly humid. Extrema MDP TP show obvious characteristics, maxima located southern part while minima more concentrated northern part. newly potentials for application studies where underlying surface features exhibit rapid alterations. findings provide relevant information planning design water resources management, flood risk drainage system region.
